Below you’ll find some frequently asked questions, and information to better learn who we are and what we do here at ECWPA.  Click on the down arrow located to the right of any of the questions to read more on that topic.

What days do you meet?

We meet once a week on Fridays.  9am-3pm (with classes from 9:30am-2:30pm)

We have 2 semesters, each one lasting for 12 weeks of classes.  If our semester falls over Thanksgiving or Easter, we do take those weeks off and add an additional week to our schedule.

Who can attend?

Registration is open to all families with at least one child homeschooling under the PA homeschool law or registered in a PA cyber school.

Is this a drop off program?

No, it is not.

ECWPA is a cooperative program, meaning a parent/guardian not only stays on site, but helps in some manner during our class days.

What about my non school aged children?

For the younger siblings of our school aged children, we do offer a courtesy nursery and preschool program while older siblings are in their classes.

What do I do while my child is in classes?

Because we are a cooperative program, that means we all are contributing to the success of ECWPA.  All parents are asked to contribute for a minimum number of periods (we have 4 educational periods and 1 lunch period).  Contributions could look like offering to teach classes, being assigned as a helper in a classroom, being part of our cleaning team, or part of our lunch program.

How many classes are there?

We have 5 periods in our day, each one is 55 minutes long.  4 of them are educational, and 1 is lunch.

What does it cost?

Costs can vary, depending on how many semesters you sign up for, and what classes you register for.  The following information are fees for the 2024/2025 school year.

Member Dues: Dues are $50 per family paid once per school calendar year, and this goes towards our insurances and website operating costs.

Semester Fees: Each semester there is a $150 fee per family.  This fee goes to cover our operating expenses such as rent and cleaning supplies.  This fee is paid when you register for classes at the start of each semester (fall and spring).  If you sign up for both semesters, this would be $300 for the year for your family.

Class Fees: Lastly, some classes may have associated costs, charged by the instructor.  These fees are for consumable materials and supplies.  For example, our woodshop class will need to acquire materials for the kids to build their projects with.  Some classes order in workbooks for the students.  Not all classes have costs associated to them, some are free.  If a class has a cost, it will be listed on that class information so you’ll know what you are agreeing to pay before you sign up.  And you are never obligated to sign up for specific classes.  So you could choose all free ones if you wanted.

Where are you located?

We are located at the First United Methodist Church of Aliquippa, located just outside of Center Township at

2816 Brodhead Rd.

Aliquippa PA 15001

What kinds of classes do you offer?

We offer a wide range of classes.  Ultimately, it comes down to what people are willing to teach that semester.  However, in the past we have had woodworking, sewing, Biology, American Girls, Aesop’s Fables, Outdoor Games, various music classes, and writing classes just to name a few.  We do our best to ensure each semester has a good mix of enrichment level classes and academic offerings.
